El Salvador's mild climate and fertile soil have proven ideal for the production of the country's main export crops—coffee and sugar. Coffee production, which began in the 1850s, dominated the country's economy for over a century and is still the largest agricultural export. Sugar, the next largest export, was responsible for about 2 percent of export revenues in 1999. Fisheries have grown more important to the economy as well, mainly through shrimp production, which is third in agricultural export earnings behind coffee and sugar.

Remittances have been sent to El Salvador from people of El Salvador which live in mainly USA and Canada. These remittances have been sent to their families that live here and they cannot afford enough money to pay their houses or the health of their family. This by the way is good for the country because it help the country’s development and growth. In nowadays remittances have increased about 7% comparing to the past years but there is problem, people are not working any nore because they have enought money that their ralatives send form USA and Canada and they think they have enough to matain their family and them.

What has this got to do with Rostows Growth Model?
This is very important beause we as country is not realicing that we are spending the money with thing that we realy dont need or that we dont use. This leads the people of our country to stop working and producing goods for people to use. This also means that people will as i said before stop working and producing goods an they are only waiting fr their money that will come from the other countries. People is not using thamoey intelligently and they are not thinking that one day they will stop to reaseave the money and will have nothing becuse also people believe that in the next elections for president if the country may change and people will no longer get remittnces form their relatives of other countries any more.
This may happen and people will realise that they have to save money and be intelligent in which ythings thay really need and buy them but this may also be a problem becuse the countries development will decrease and the growth too. People who by now are poor will be more than poor becuse the county will not have enough money to maintain their family as well as them. Now El Salvador is in Rostows Growth model scale in number 3. I believe this because nowadays the county is trying to imrove poverty and tecnology has also impoved too.

El Salvador’s main types of industries

The main types of industries of El Salvador are oil based products, textiles, food and nutrition, and paper
-Oil based products: Oil based products, such as plastic, lubricants and a small amount of perfume are some of the main types of industries here in El Salvador.

-Textiles: One of the main or most important industries in El Salvador is textiles. These textiles mostly made in “Maquilas” , places where all the cotton, from plantations or from imports are made or woven these “Maquilas” take up most of the industrial sector in el “sitio del niño”, the industrial sector of El Salvador.

-Food/Nutrition: Is another important sector of El Salvador’s economy, producing coffee, as the main food, but also corn, maize, fruits and many more. Because of this, a lot of people have jobs, keeping the unemployment index low, currently standing at 6%. These plantations, mostly coffee are placed high up in the mountains, where the air is cool, and it is always moist. Because of the large amounts of mountains and volcanoes in the area, there are a lot of coffee plantations, giving a steady job for plantation workers.

-Paper: The paper industry, mostly hygienic paper is another main industry in El Salvador. There are two BIG companies, Kimberly Clark Corporation/Professional (my father works in KCC), and Sula. Most of this paper gets exported, but the remaining %, roughly 35-45% is used here. Many people work in these factories, located in the industrial sector of El Salvador, el sitio del niño, sharing the space with maquilas and food processing companies.
